He has advised CIDA-sponsored bilateral projects in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Egypt, as well as development programs of the United Nations, NOVIB, Oxfam Great-Britain, the Aga Khan Foundation, DanChurchAid, and numerous other agencies. Brian has taught program management in the International Development Management Program of the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada prior to leaving for Cambodia.

For over a decade, Brian was a senior manager with CUSO (now CUSO-VSO), one of Canada's major development agencies. As a CUSO field director, he worked in Nigeria, Botswana and Zambia, and was the CUSO Manager for East, Central and Southern Africa. He has also worked for Inter Pares in Ottawa and for Continuing Education at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
